Local Author Consignment Program at Novel Tea Book Shop
At Novel Tea Book Shop, we’re passionate about supporting local indie authors. Our dedicated Local Authors Shelf celebrates Florida-based talent, offering a space where your stories can find their readers.
We’re excited to feature your work and invite you to join our consignment program. Please carefully review the details below to ensure a smooth partnership.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome self-published and small-press Florida authors to apply. If you are published with a large platform publisher, please let us know that so that we can order your books through Ingram!
How Our Program Works
1. Application Process
- Submit your application using our Online Author Application Form.
- Approved applicants will receive a confirmation email with detailed next steps.
2. Stocking & Fees
- Approved authors will pay a one-time, non-refundable $15 Stocking Fee.
- The fee covers tasks like POS entry, shelf placard creation, inventory management, sales tracking, and payment processing.
- Authors must provide 3 copies of one book title for display.
- Books must have a valid ISBN and barcode for tracking purposes.
- Copies can be mailed or dropped off in person at the shop.
3. Consignment Period
Our consignment program begins with a 30-day trial period:
- Books will be displayed prominently on our Local Authors Shelf.
- Sales will be tracked through our POS system.
- If your book shows strong performance, the consignment can be extended for an additional 30 days (60 days total).
- No additional fees are charged for extensions.
At the end of the consignment period:
- Unsold books must be picked up in-store or mailed back at the author’s expense.
- Books left uncollected after 14 days will be donated.
4. Payment Details
- Authors will receive 60% of the retail price for each book sold.
- Payments are issued at the end of each 30-day consignment period.
- Authors may choose to receive payments via Venmo or PayPal.
5. Author Expectations
We believe the best partnerships are collaborative. Here’s how you can help make your consignment a success:
- Promote your book on social media and tag us (@novelteabookshop).
- Personalize your copies with signatures or messages to entice readers.
- Use stickers, bookmarks, or bundled merch to attract attention.
- Price your book competitively within your genre.
6. Our Commitment to You
At Novel Tea Book Shop, we’ll:
- Provide a professional retail space for your book.
- Track sales and share transparent monthly sales reports.
- Feature standout books in social media spotlights and during in-store events.
- Offer guidance on pricing and presentation if needed.
Please Note: While we take every precaution to protect your books, Novel Tea Book Shop is not responsible for theft, loss, or damage to consigned copies.
Timeline Overview
- Start Date: 1st of each month
- Initial Period: 30 days
- Extension Period (if applicable): Additional 30 days
Tip: Authors can choose to start their consignment immediately or delay it to the following month by informing our staff.
